SFX Catholic School celebrates school mothers, grandmothers, and aunts during the Month of Mary with ‘Muffins with Mom’ breakfast

On Friday morning, St. Francis Xavier (SFX) Catholic School students joined their mothers, grandmothers, and aunts in the Parish Hall for homemade muffins, coffee, and other snacks.

The event, dubbed “Muffins with Mom,” functioned as an early celebration of Mother’s Day, which is on Sunday, May 12.

The event also celebrated Mary, the mother of Jesus. In the Catholic Church, May has been traditionally recognized as a “Marian month” in her honor.

Catholics believe that Mary, being the mother of Jesus Christ, has a special position among the saints.

According to the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops:

“Mary embraces God's will and freely chooses to cooperate with God's grace, thereby fulfilling a crucial role in God's plan of salvation. Throughout the centuries, the Church has turned to the Blessed Virgin in order to come closer to Christ. Many forms of piety toward the Mother of God developed that help bring us closer to her Son … The Church honors her as the Mother of God, looks to her as a model of perfect discipleship, and asks for her prayers to God on our behalf.”

While SFX School office staff helped bake muffins in the Parish Hall kitchen, Principal Mary Paige Griffin thanked everyone in attendance for their support.
